SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Fri 18th September 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. It’s also great for those with a small amount of experience to practice looser painting styles and build confidence. \nThe aim of this ‘Exploring Watercolours’ class is to have FUN\, and to get past the anxiety many people experience when approaching watercolour painting! There is absolutely NO DRAWING involved\, so you can simply enjoy playing with the paints\, without stressing over the outcome.  \nYou’ll explore how to use a basic set of colours and see the way they blend and harmonise on paper\, along with using different types of brushes and some more unusual tools to create fascinating effects. \nThere will be a selection of simple and enjoyable exercises\, which will offer you a great basis in watercolor painting. DESCRIPTION:This is a new venture aimed at KS3 children\, Y7-Y11.  It is a short course of three consecutive Saturday afternoons\, starting on Saturday 26th September until Saturday 10th October.  The sessions will run 2-3.30pm.  Places are limited to 5 so everyone can be supported. \nWeek 1 will be a handbuilding session\, run by Christine.  You will make a project using hand building processes and be shown how to join and construct clay. \nWeek 2 will be a session on a potters wheel\, run by Vikki. You will be guided on how to create a pot on a potters wheel\, with demos and suppport. \nWeek 3 will be a glazing session\, run by Christine. DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nOpen Access runs every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Weds 30th September 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. SUMMARY:Autumn Dry Needle Felted Decs Sat 17th Oct 1:15pm
DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington from Evendawn in this great opportunity to try Needle Felting to create beautiful Autumn-themed decorations for your home.  \nDuring the workshop you’ll have a choice between a few different designs including Toadstools\, Pumpkins/Squashes and Toffee Apples\, all suitable to hang or stand. Needle Felting requires the use of special needles to felt wool together\, which can then be manipulated into shapes and applied onto bases/given hanging strings to make the decorations.  \nIt’s not a ‘speedy’ craft\, as it takes time to felt the shapes\, but you’ll be shown how to do this to build your chosen design\, and many of the decorations will already have ‘bases’ ready for you to work on\, so you can get straight on with making these fun Autumnal Decorations. \nThere is the requirement to comply with safety equipment instructions during the workshop – involving the wearing of protective leather finger guards during the felting of the designs.  Felting needles are extremely sharp and therefore safety procedures will be in place to protect all participants. \nAny level of experience welcome\, as you’ll receive full tuition at every stage. \n(A minimum age of 16 is required for the workshop participants\, due to safety requirements). \nAll materials will be provided. \n£38pp \n  \nPlease note that if you wish to use the first floor tearoom during your visit you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. \nWe work hard to price our workshops fairly and offer good value for money. Got a degree in art or never held a brush before come and paint with Karen. \nIn this session you will be guided step-by-step to create a miniature watercolour landscape painting incorporating a range of techniques. Within the workshop we will teach you how to make/refill your own candles and have the confidence to create your own large 250ml scented soy wax candle to take home and enjoy.
