SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Weds 2nd September 1.30pm
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. SUMMARY:Evening Beginners Handbuilding Pottery Course 3rd - 24th September 6.30pm
DESCRIPTION:Our ever popular evening beginners pottery course returns for another block of 4 sessions.  This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning about creating in clay or who may want to refresh rusty skills.  We will focus on hand building techniques and processes.  This course is suitable for anyone aged 16+. If you are interested in learning how to make pottery on a potters wheel\, we also run a beginners potters wheel evening course – see our website listings page. \nThis course will start on Thursday 3rd September and run for 4 consecutive Thursday evenings until 24th September.  Sessions will start at 6.30pm until 9pm and the total cost is £200\, which includes all clay\, glazes\, tuition\, kiln firings and use of studio facilities.  Our teacher Vikki is a fully qualified professional who has been teaching pottery for over 25 years. Her endless patience and friendly nature will ensure you have a positive experience regardless of your skills or confidence. If you wish to ask her any questions before committing to the course\, please feel free to email her on vikki@edentearoom.com \nEach week will focus on a different handbuilding process with guided step-by-step makes to give you practical hands on experience… \nWeek 1 – Slab building – using templates and rolled out sheets of clay. \nWeek 2 – Coil & pinch – combining two techniques of pinching out clay and adding coils of clay to create height. \nWeek 3 – Opportunity to make your choice of piece or be given a simple brief to follow. \nWeek 4 – Glazing – you will be introduced to glazing and glaze everything you’ve made in previous weeks. \nYou will leave the course with a file of handouts and resources for future reference if you want to continue your clay journey…

DESCRIPTION:Create your own handmade matcha bowl and coordinating whisk holder in this hand building workshop.  Using a combination of pinching and slab building techniques\, you’ll learn how to form a functional pouring bowl and construct a whisk holder designed to help your bamboo whisk keep its shape. \nThroughout the session\, you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of hand building\, refining form and finishing your pieces ready for glazing.  Once fired and ready for colour\, you can return to glaze your own pieces or leave instructions for our Pottery Teachers to do it. DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nOpen Access runs every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). SUMMARY:Beginners Potters Wheel Evening Course Tues 8th-29th Sept 6-8pm
DESCRIPTION:This 4 x session evening course is an introduction to making pots on the potters wheel. You will learn how to prep\, centre\, manipulate and turn the clay to create your own forms. Our Pottery Teacher will focus on teaching you how to pull cylinders to a workable height.  You will also be shown basic turning techniques to finish your pots off before firing. \nThe course will run on four consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on 8th September until 29th September\, starting at 6pm until 8pm.  If you cannot attend a session due to prior commitments or illness\, unfortunately we are unable to provide additional sessions to catch up. \nThis course is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who needs a complete refresher on techniques. DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. DESCRIPTION:We’re running another daytime beginners pottery course returns for a block of 4 sessions.  This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning about creating in clay or who may want to refresh rusty skills.  We will focus on hand building techniques and processes.  This course is suitable for anyone aged 16+. If you are interested in learning how to make pottery on a potters wheel\, we run a beginners potters wheel evening course – see our website listings page. \nThis course will start on Monday 14th September and run for 4 consecutive Mondays until 5th October. Sessions will start at 10.30am until 1pm and the total cost is £200\, which includes all clay\, glazes\, tuition\, kiln firings and use of studio facilities.  Our teacher Vikki is a fully qualified professional who has been teaching pottery for over 25 years. DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nOpen Access runs every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sat 26th September 10.30am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:This is a new venture aimed at KS3 children\, Y7-Y11.  It is a short course of three consecutive Saturday afternoons\, starting on Saturday 26th September until Saturday 10th October.  The sessions will run 2-3.30pm.  Places are limited to 5 so everyone can be supported. \nWeek 1 will be a handbuilding session\, run by Christine.  You will make a project using hand building processes and be shown how to join and construct clay. \nWeek 2 will be a session on a potters wheel\, run by Vikki. You will be guided on how to create a pot on a potters wheel\, with demos and suppport. \nWeek 3 will be a glazing session\, run by Christine. You will glaze all the items you have made over the previous two sessions. \nFinished pieces can be collected at a later date after they have been through the kiln. \nIf you have any questions about this course or your child’s suitability.
