Nancy Collantine is exhibiting with us in our opening exhibition. Nancy enjoys materiality of painting, drawing, printmaking and collage to find ways in which she can visually record journeys and experiences.
Working from sketches, from life and from memory she aims to travel beyond narrative, exploring the space between representation and abstraction, with the aim of losing original intention to find something else that was before unknown to her. It is often a process of catching a truth through intuitive action and response, letting the work be her guide. The consequential act of painting and the time that is bound in its material is her way of recording that time.
The Secret Garden is a seasonal collection of paintings, from a spring awakening to the riotous applause colour and heavy scents of summer.
