SUMMARY:Beginners Potters Wheel Daytime Course Weds 1st July - 22nd July 11am-1pm
DESCRIPTION:This 4 x session daytime course is an introduction to making pots on the potters wheel. You will learn how to prep\, centre\, manipulate and turn the clay to create your own forms. Our Pottery Teacher will focus on teaching you how to pull cylinders to a workable height.  You will also be shown basic turning techniques to finish your pots off before firing. \nThe course will run on four consecutive Wednesdays starting on 1st July until 22nd July\, from 11am until 1pm.  If you cannot attend a session due to prior commitments or illness\, unfortunately we are unable to provide additional sessions to catch up. \nThis course is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who needs a complete refresher on techniques. Adults only. If you have any questions relating to this course you can contact our teachers directly on workshops@edentearoom.com. \nPlease note we cannot offer a transfer or refund unless your original places are filled. SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sun 5th July 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Join us on this workshop to handbuild your own ceramic bird feeder. Using the pinch and coil techniques\, you will build up your shape and then will add detail to make it your own. There will be full guidance and support from our pottery teacher. You can make your feeder to hang or to sit on a surface. \nOnce dried and fired\, you can return to add colour to your piece or leave instructions for our teachers to do it for you. All pieces are fired to over 1200oC so they are suitable for outside use. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners. DESCRIPTION:*NEW WORKSHOP* \nOur much-anticipated Highland Cow workshop has finally arrived.  This first session is available by invitation only for intermediate potters while our Pottery Teacher fine-tunes timings and skill levels. Public bookings will be open soon for a repeat of this workshop in September.  Designed for those with some clay experience\, this workshop is not suitable as a first pottery class. If you wish to express your interest in the next date\, please email our Pottery Teacher Vikki on vikki@edentearoom.com. \nUsing terracotta clay\, you’ll create this charming Highland Cow sculpture step by step.  You’ll be shown how to build the basic hollow form\, add characterful facial features and complete the signature long flowing coat that makes this breed so distinctive. \nDue to the level of detail involved\, this is a full-day workshop.  We’ll break for lunch approximately halfway through the day.  We can reserve a table for you in our Tearoom (please email Vikki in advance)\, or you’re welcome to dine elsewhere.  Please note that\, in line with our Health & Safety policy\, food brought from outside may not be consumed anywhere on Eden premises\, including the outdoor seating area. \n

DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

DESCRIPTION:This beginner friendly impression vase workshop is back for the Summer months.  Using provided flora you will press them into the clay to capture the shapes and textures that nature provides.  Feel free to bring your own cuttings to press. You will then be shown how to construct a slab vase.  Full instructions and support will be given.  This is a basic hand-building workshop.  Once dried and kiln fired\, our Pottery Teacher will glaze your vase in your chosen colour. SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Fri 17th July 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:This classic pottery workshop guides you through creating a beautiful floral jug using a combination of handbuilding techniques and simple construction methods.  While beginners are welcome\, the workshop is best suited to those who have attended at least one handbuilding session previously. \nOur experienced Pottery Teacher Vikki\, will provide step-by-step guidance and support throughout the process\, ensuring everyone feels confident as they build. \nUsing a selection of stamps and textures\, you’ll personalise and decorate the individual components of your jug before learning how to assemble them into a finished piece.  By the end of the workshop\, you’ll have created your own unique floral jug ready for drying and firing. \nOnce dried and fired\, you can return on a later date at your convenience to add colour to your creation.  Your jug will need another kiln firing and will be available for collection after this. \nPlease note we cannot transfer or refund any bookings unless your original places are refilled. \nIf you wish to use our Tearoom\, you must book a table via our website as we cannot guarantee availability.

SUMMARY:Kid’s Potters Wheel Taster Fri 24th July 10am
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

SUMMARY:Kid’s Clay Monster Weds 29th July 10.30am
DESCRIPTION:In this fun 1.5hr children’s workshop\, participants will create their very own friendly\, colourful pinch pot monster.  Once shaped and refined their creation will be left to dry before being fired.  Our Pottery Teacher Christine will give full support and guidance.  Parents are welcome to stay and help but please email us to let us know so we can ensure there is enough room for everybody. \nBefore leaving the workshop\, children can choose a glaze colour for their creation and we will glaze it for you.  Your finished monster will be available to collect a week or so later and we will contact you beforehand. \nThis workshop is for children aged 7+ only.  Parents can stay to help or book a table in the Tearoom. Please do not leave the premise during the workshop. If you wish to use the Tearoom you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. \nPlease note we cannot transfer or refund your original booked places unless they are refilled.  If you wish to pay using Eden gift vouchers\, you must bring your vouchers into Eden before the workshop date to confirm your place.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in the gallery for our Watercolour Wednesday afternoon. Got a degree in art or never held a brush before come and paint with Karen. \nIn this session you will be guided step-by-step to create a miniature watercolour landscape painting incorporating a range of techniques. (See photo) All materials provided for this class. \nThis session is very informal and relaxed. It’s taught by veteran watercolour artist Karen Buckels who has spent a lifetime of teaching art. \n“If yours isn’t at the same standard as mine then it’s my fault and NOT YOURS and i’ve never had a failure yet!” ~ Karen Buckels. \nThis session will start at 1pm. \nPlease note that if you wish to use our Tearoom after the workshop you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. \nWe work hard to price our workshops fairly and offer good value for money.
