Our Current Exhibition

13th September – 3rd November
A brand new collaboration between photographer Paula Cutler and British Contemporary Artist Andrea Mosey. Paula’s original photographs are displayed alongside Andrea’s oil painted interpretations. Together they offer two perspectives on the same subject-one captured through the lens, the other shaped though imagination and brushwork.

ANDREA MOSEY

I am a landscape and seascape painter working primarily in oils, based in my North Yorkshire studio.

My work is inspired directly by the landscape and is often characterised by wide open spaces and dramatic skies. I aim to create paintings that are evocative and serene, offering moments of quiet reflection and a sense of connection to place.

My creative process blends reference imagery with imagination, allowing me to interpret the landscape in a way that combines memory, emotion, and atmosphere. I am a member of North Yorkshire Open Studios and in 2023 I was honoured to receive the British Contemporary Art Award

I have admired Paula’s photography for many years and often imagined how her images might translate into paint. That idea became the starting point for this exhibition — exploring how an artist can interpret a photographer’s work and overlay a personal creative process onto an already beautiful image.

What excites me most about this collaboration is the opportunity for viewers to see the works side by side.

PAULA CUTLER

A photographer originally from Ormskirk now based on Anglesey. Paula’s work is inspired by the shifting moods of the sea and sky, capturing the fleeting beauty of light and colour with a painterly quality. A member of Art North Wales, Paula has exhibited during Anglesey Arts Week and is now part of the Conwy Art Trail. With a background in fashion, she enjoys exploring diverse styles, collaborating with fellow artists, and creating distinctive commercial fashion projects.

About this exhibition-I was thrilled to be invited by Andrea Mosey and Eden Gallery to collaborate on this project. Having long admired Andrea’s work, I was excited to see how she would interpret my photographs of seascapes and sunsets. Together, our pieces explore two ways of seeing the same subject — photography capturing fleeting moments of light and colour, and painting reimagining them with expressive brushwork. Shown side by side, they create a dialogue between reality and imagination, reminding us that no two perspectives on the same horizon are ever the same.  As you look, ask yourself: how does each medium — photography and painting — capture your imagination?
