SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sun 21st June 11.30am
DESCRIPTION:Treat the Dad in your life. \nThis 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. DESCRIPTION:Join Victoria from Little House of Victoria in this is a mixed media workshop for which you will receive a beautiful kit to take home with you and to work on in the class. \nThe kit includes beautiful watercolour pencils\, a printed panel in a choice of my designs\, a set of pure silk perle and stranded threads\, written instructions\, and of tuition throughout the workshop. \nThis workshop is completely suitable for beginners and for advanced crafters and stitchers alike. We will first colour in the printed panel with the pencils\, before adding water and watching the magic happen\, this is so therapeutic! We will then explore ways of stitching to enhance the panel\, I will provide as much guidance as possible with the stitching\, and if you haven’t stitched for a while or ever before\, that is absolutely fine. \nIn terms of design\, you can follow my examples\, or go completely off piste with your own creation\, this is very much encouraged. \nThere will be a choice of printed designs\, all measuring 24 x 24 cm\, printed on organic cotton. We will also discuss uses for your panels\, and how to take them into a project following this workshop. The embroidered panels can be framed as art\, or displayed as a wall hanging\, or applied to a number of clothing or accessories. \nKit Contents: \n\nThe materials included for you to embroider in the session\, and to take away with you:\nWatercolour pencils.\nPrinted panel\, 24cm x 24cm.\nPure silk stranded cotton and perle embroidery threads\nJohn James embroidery needle.\n\nEden Galleries is an accessible venue\, and the studio and toilets are on the ground floor. DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington of Evendawn Arts in this Acrylic ‘Peter Puffin’ Painting workshop. \nBefore starting the project\, Helen will explain everything about the paints\, brushes and techniques to be used during the session\, so this is a perfect opportunity to try acrylic painting if it’s new to you! If you’ve used them before\, you’ll be familiar with how versatile and fun they can be! \nOn a sturdy piece of cream mountboard\, you will be given a pre-drawn outline of ‘Peter Puffin”\, so you don’t need to worry about drawing him. You can then enjoy painting in all the details to create a lovely medium-sized finished picture to keep. \nAcrylic paints\, once dry\, are completely permanent! Therefore\, please ensure you wear suitable clothing which won’t matter if the paint gets onto it! \nPlease don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your projects home in – a small lidded tray or box will be fine. \nAll levels of experience welcome (Age 12 upwards). DESCRIPTION:Join Victoria from Little house of Victoria and learn the art of printing without a press. Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first create a printed background on fabric with gel plate printing. Natural\, botanical and abstract themes will be explored. Then we will select areas to stitch that will enhance the print\, with stitch techniques such as needle weaving and other traditional but simple stitching techniques such as couching. You will select the colour palette from a wide range of threads and beads\, all materials will be available to take with you to complete the project at home if needed. \nGel plate printing is very easy to do\, and I will guide you through each step. The print will be an abstract print\, so there is no artistic skill required. The random areas of the print will then suggest areas to work into\, and we will discuss this together\, or you have free rein to be as creative as you like. \nThis workshop also involves a few simple stitches\, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery. The embroidered panel can be applied to a number of objects\, and you will have the materials to make yours into a needle case or a drawstring purse. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners as all tuition will be provided. \nKit Contents: \n\nThe materials included for you to embroider in the session\, and to take away with you:\nFabric panels\, calico and cotton.\nStranded cotton embroidery threads\nPure wool threads.\nBeads and embellishments.\nJohn James embroidery needles.\n\nAll other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio\, and you will have your kit to take home to finish the project. \nThe workshop will take place at Eden Tearoom & Galleries in Newburgh\, and it is a fully accessible ground floor venue.
