DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. DESCRIPTION:Open Studio Access – Make Time for Pottery \nFancy some uninterrupted time in the pottery studio to work on your own projects? Our Open Studio Access sessions give you the freedom to create at your own pace\, using our workshop facilities and equipment. \nWhether you love hand-building\, throwing on the potter’s wheel or experimenting with something completely new\, come along and make something that’s uniquely yours. \nYou can book 2\,4 or 6 hours of studio time.  Our Pottery Teachers will be around to offer advice and guidance\, but please note this is not a taught session or one-to-one tuition. \nWhen: Every Tuesday from 9.30-3.30 \nChoose a length of session to suit you and if its less than 6 hours\, drop us an email at workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you’ll be arriving and if you’re handbuilding or will need a potters wheel. \nYou’ll need to purchase your clay from us\, so we know what is going into our kiln. Any clay used that is not purchased from us will be charged Kilnshare prices for firing and the relevant forms need to be completed so we have as much information about the clay as possible.  This helps to avoid damage to our kiln shelves and kiln.  Full 12.5kg bags of Stoneware and Earthenware cost £40\, half bags £20 and quarter bags £12. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:Our popular Poppyheads workshop returns for a mid week class. This is the perfect time of year to create your own seed heads in clay.  You will be guided step-by-step on the basic construction and then you can use the cutters provided to add your own detail. You will make two poppyheads of your own design. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners.  Adults only. \nOnce your pieces have dried and been fired\, you can return on a day convenient for you to add colour.  Otherwise you can leave instructions with our Pottery Teachers who will glaze them for you. \nIf you wish to use our Tearoom before or after the workshop\, you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. \nPlease note we cannot transfer or refund any bookings unless the original places are filled.

Our Open Studio Access sessions give you the freedom to create at your own pace\, using our workshop facilities and equipment. \nWhether you love hand-building\, throwing on the potter’s wheel or experimenting with something completely new\, come along and make something that’s uniquely yours. \nYou can book 2\,4 or 6 hours of studio time.  Our Pottery Teachers will be around to offer advice and guidance\, but please note this is not a taught session or one-to-one tuition. \nWhen: Every Tuesday from 9.30-3.30 \nChoose a length of session to suit you and if its less than 6 hours\, drop us an email at workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you’ll be arriving and if you’re handbuilding or will need a potters wheel. \nYou’ll need to purchase your clay from us\, so we know what is going into our kiln. DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington from Evendawn in this great opportunity to try Needle Felting to create beautiful Autumn-themed decorations for your home.  \nDuring the workshop you’ll have a choice between a few different designs including Toadstools\, Pumpkins/Squashes and Toffee Apples\, all suitable to hang or stand. Needle Felting requires the use of special needles to felt wool together\, which can then be manipulated into shapes and applied onto bases/given hanging strings to make the decorations.  \nIt’s not a ‘speedy’ craft\, as it takes time to felt the shapes\, but you’ll be shown how to do this to build your chosen design\, and many of the decorations will already have ‘bases’ ready for you to work on\, so you can get straight on with making these fun Autumnal Decorations. \nThere is the requirement to comply with safety equipment instructions during the workshop – involving the wearing of protective leather finger guards during the felting of the designs.  Felting needles are extremely sharp and therefore safety procedures will be in place to protect all participants. \nAny level of experience welcome\, as you’ll receive full tuition at every stage. \n(A minimum age of 16 is required for the workshop participants\, due to safety requirements). \nAll materials will be provided. \n£38pp \n  \nPlease note that if you wish to use the first floor tearoom during your visit you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. \nWe work hard to price our workshops fairly and offer good value for money. SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Thurs 15th October 10.30am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Any clay used that is not purchased from us will be charged Kilnshare prices for firing and the relevant forms need to be completed so we have as much information about the clay as possible.  This helps to avoid damage to our kiln shelves and kiln.  Full 12.5kg bags of Stoneware and Earthenware cost £40\, half bags £20 and quarter bags £12. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a pottery experience with a difference! \nAcross two fun-filled evenings\, you’ll create a collection of miniature pots on our brand new mini potters wheels before transforming them into unique Raku treasures. \nOn Friday 9th October you’ll get hands-on with the wheels and learn how to throw your own mini pots. They may be tiny\, but don’t be fooled – mini throwing is surprisingly challenging and seriously addictive! Some previous wheel experience would be an advantage. \nWe’ll then carefully dry and fire your pots ready for the exciting second session. \nOn Friday 16th October it’s time for Microwave Raku.  You’ll experiment with Raku glazes before putting your pots through this fascinating process of heat\, smoke and dramatic transformation. Expect flames\, surprises and wonderfully unpredictable results – no two pieces will be quite the same! \nCome along\, get your hands muddy and discover just how much excitement can fit into a tiny pot! \nWith only 4 places available we advise you don’t delay booking.  This workshop will hopefully become an Eden regular\, so once sold out\, we will be planning another date. \nPlease wear clothes you don’t mind getting smokey and tie all long hair back.  All PPE will be provided on the Raku session. \nAs this is an evening workshop our Tearoom and Gallery will be closed.  Please note we cannot refund or transfer any bookings until your original places are filled.

SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sun 4th October 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Vikki \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop.
