DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Mon 16th March 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Vikki. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:In this two part workshop you will create a beautifully shaped stoneware platter using a slab building technique.  Week 1 will be the making session when you will use a simple forma to support the clay slab to create your shape.  Your piece will then be dried and fired ready for the second session. Week 2 is when you will explore glaze layering to decorate the surface in a soft atmospheric ‘frozen pond’ style. \nThis class is suitable for beginners. SUMMARY:Beginners Potters Wheel Evening Course 10th-31st March 6-8pm
DESCRIPTION:This 4 x session evening course is an introduction to making pots on the potters wheel. You will learn how to prep\, centre and manipulate the clay to create your own forms. Our Pottery Teacher will focus on teaching you how to pull cylinders to a workable height.  You will also be shown basic turning techniques to finish your pots off before firing. \nThe course will run on four consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on 10th March until 31st March\, from 6pm until 8pm.  If you cannot attend a session due to prior commitments or illness\, unfortunately we are unable to provide additional sessions to catch up. Our building shuts at 5pm so access will only be available from 5.45pm and our Tearoom will be closed. Please drive in via our middle gates. \nThis course is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who needs a complete refresher on techniques. Adults only. SUMMARY:Open Studio Access Tues 10th March from 9.30am
DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

DESCRIPTION:The ever popular moongazing hare workshop is back! This workshop is suitable for people who have worked with clay previously.  This may be a previous Eden hand building workshop\, making things at home or a course.  We can cater for beginners but it is a fiddly and tricky workshop if it’s your first experience of clay. \nYou will be guided step-by-step to create the hare form\, but you will be able to make it your own with added details.  Our Pottery Teacher will provide full support and guidance throughout the class. Once completed and fired\, our staff will glaze your finished hare in red iron oxide. \nPlease note we cannot refund or transfer your booking unless your original place is filled. \nIf you wish to use our Tearoom after the class\, you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability.

DESCRIPTION:Just in time for Spring\, come and make a ceramic bird feeder using the coil technique.  Full instructions and support will be given as you layer and blend coils to create your own form.  Decorative relief details can be added\, including a clay tube to thread twigs through\, to help the small birds gain access to the bird food. During this session you will choose your glaze colour and our teachers will glaze your piece for you.  Once ready\, you can collected your finished piece at a later date. \nSuitable for beginners. SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Thurs 5th March 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop.
