DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sat 9th May 10:30am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sat 25th April 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington from Evendawn Arts in this ‘Exploring Watercolour’ Workshop. \nThis is a perfect taster workshop for anyone who’s always wanted to try watercolour painting but have been too nervous to! It’s also great for those with a small amount of experience to practice looser painting styles and build confidence. \nThe aim of this ‘Exploring Watercolours’ class is to have FUN\, and to get past the anxiety many people experience when approaching watercolour painting! There is absolutely NO DRAWING involved\, so you can simply enjoy playing with the paints\, without stressing over the outcome.  \nYou’ll explore how to use a basic set of colours and see the way they blend and harmonise on paper\, along with using different types of brushes and some more unusual tools to create fascinating effects. \nThere will be a selection of simple and enjoyable exercises\, which will offer you a great basis in watercolor painting. You may then want to explore these topics further at later date. \nThis is not the type of class for those with more advanced watercolour skills\, or those wishing to learn how to draw/paint landscapes or ‘formal’ types of work. \nAll materials included in this session. \nPlease ensure you bring something suitable to carry your work home in – an A4 folder or envelope will be fine.  \n  \nPlease note that if you wish to use Eden’s first floor Tearoom before or after the workshop\, even for drinks and cake\, you must book a table via the website as availability cannot be guaranteed.  \nPlease note that we have a clear non-refundable & no transfer policy to ensure that we cover our costs and protect the ongoing viability of the workshop. DESCRIPTION:This is an evening Open Studio Access which allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2 or 4 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we are changing the structure of our Open Access sessions. You must buy your clay from us (the cost includes your clay\, glazes and 2 firings). SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Fri 17th April 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. Please email workshops@edentearoom.com for details. \nWe work hard to price our workshops competitively and provide a quality service.  Therefore\, our policy is that no workshop places can be refunded or transferred unless the place can be filled.
