SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sun 5th July 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Join this Friday workshop to hand build your own ceramic bird feeder.  Using the pinch and coil techniques\, you will build up your shape and then will add detail to make it your own.  There will be full guidance and support from our Pottery Teacher.  You can make your feeder to hang or to sit on a surface. \nOnce dried and fired\, you can return to add colour to your piece or leave instructions for our teachers to do it for you.  All pieces are fired to over 1200oC so they are suitable for outside use. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners. DESCRIPTION:This beginner friendly impression vase workshop is back for the Summer months.  Using provided flora you will press them into the clay to capture the shapes and textures that nature provides.  Feel free to bring your own cuttings to press. You will then be shown how to construct a slab vase.  Full instructions and support will be given.  This is a basic hand-building workshop.  Once dried and kiln fired\, our Pottery Teacher will glaze your vase in your chosen colour. DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. DESCRIPTION:Join Victoria from Little House of Victoria in this is a mixed media workshop for which you will receive a beautiful kit to take home with you and to work on in the class. \nThe kit includes beautiful watercolour pencils\, a printed panel in a choice of my designs\, a set of pure silk perle and stranded threads\, written instructions\, and of tuition throughout the workshop. \nThis workshop is completely suitable for beginners and for advanced crafters and stitchers alike. We will first colour in the printed panel with the pencils\, before adding water and watching the magic happen\, this is so therapeutic! We will then explore ways of stitching to enhance the panel\, I will provide as much guidance as possible with the stitching\, and if you haven’t stitched for a while or ever before\, that is absolutely fine. \nIn terms of design\, you can follow my examples\, or go completely off piste with your own creation\, this is very much encouraged. \nThere will be a choice of printed designs\, all measuring 24 x 24 cm\, printed on organic cotton. We will also discuss uses for your panels\, and how to take them into a project following this workshop. The embroidered panels can be framed as art\, or displayed as a wall hanging\, or applied to a number of clothing or accessories. \nKit Contents: \n\nThe materials included for you to embroider in the session\, and to take away with you:\nWatercolour pencils.\nPrinted panel\, 24cm x 24cm.\nPure silk stranded cotton and perle embroidery threads\nJohn James embroidery needle.\n\nEden Galleries is an accessible venue\, and the studio and toilets are on the ground floor. DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington of Evendawn Arts in this Acrylic ‘Peter Puffin’ Painting workshop. \nBefore starting the project\, Helen will explain everything about the paints\, brushes and techniques to be used during the session\, so this is a perfect opportunity to try acrylic painting if it’s new to you! If you’ve used them before\, you’ll be familiar with how versatile and fun they can be! \nOn a sturdy piece of cream mountboard\, you will be given a pre-drawn outline of ‘Peter Puffin”\, so you don’t need to worry about drawing him. You can then enjoy painting in all the details to create a lovely medium-sized finished picture to keep. \nAcrylic paints\, once dry\, are completely permanent! DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

SUMMARY:Kid’s Clay Monster Weds 29th July 10.30am
DESCRIPTION:In this fun 1.5hr children’s workshop\, participants will create their very own friendly\, colourful pinch pot monster.  Once shaped and refined their creation will be left to dry before being fired.  Our Pottery Teacher Christine will give full support and guidance.  Parents are welcome to stay and help but please email us to let us know so we can ensure there is enough room for everybody. \nBefore leaving the workshop\, children can choose a glaze colour for their creation and we will glaze it for you.  Your finished monster will be available to collect a week or so later and we will contact you beforehand. \nThis workshop is for children aged 7+ only.  Parents can stay to help or book a table in the Tearoom. Please do not leave the premise during the workshop. If you wish to use the Tearoom you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. \nPlease note we cannot transfer or refund your original booked places unless they are refilled.  If you wish to pay using Eden gift vouchers\, you must bring your vouchers into Eden before the workshop date to confirm your place.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in the gallery for our Watercolour Wednesday afternoon. Got a degree in art or never held a brush before come and paint with Karen. \nIn this session you will be guided step-by-step to create a miniature watercolour landscape painting incorporating a range of techniques. (See photo) All materials provided for this class. \nThis session is very informal and relaxed. SUMMARY:Adult & Kid’s Potters Wheel Taster Thurs 30th July 1.30am
DESCRIPTION:This session is aimed at couples of one adult and one child.  Children must be aged 7+.  During the 90 min class\, each couple will share a potters wheel\, with the child going first to make a pot and then swapping places. \nOur Pottery Teacher Vikki will guide the children and adults through the process of preparing\, centring and manipulating the clay to create a pot each.  Adults will need to help the children if necessary\, although Vikki will obviously be on hand to assist. \nParticipants can choose a glaze colour and staff will glaze the finished pots for you.  Finished pieces can be collected 2 weeks later. \nIf you have any questions regarding this workshop please email Vikki directly on vikki@edentearoom.com before you book.
