SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Mon 4th May 1.30pm
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Vikki. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. Please email workshops@edentearoom.com for details. \nWe work hard to price our workshops competitively and provide a quality service.  Therefore\, our policy is that no workshop places can be refunded or transferred unless the place can be filled. DESCRIPTION:Do you watch The Great Pottery Throw Down and fancy your own handbuilding challenge?? \nAfter the success of our 2025 Throw Down challenges\, we are bringing it back! Aimed at people with competent handbuilding skills\, this will be a full day challenge to make a set brief.  A second date of Sunday 31st May 10.30am – 1pm will be the glazing day.  Once fired\, finished pieces will be appraised by our pottery staff and a guest judge\, with the winner announced on our social media. \nOnce you have purchased your place on this challenge\, we will email you the brief which will contain all the details\, so the sooner you book your place\, the longer you’ll have to plan\, design and practice your pieces. \nIf you have any questions about this challenge\, please email Vikki on vikki@edentearoom.com

DESCRIPTION:This is one of our most popular workshops and sells out fast so book your places whilst you can. \nOur Pottery Teacher Vikki will guide you step-by-step to create your own impressive whale.  Aimed at people who have touched clay before this workshop will test your modelling skills but is very accessible. Full support and guidance is provided.  Once your piece is finished\, it will be left to dry for 2 weeks before its first firing.  You can then return to glaze or leave instructions for our teachers to glaze it in your colour choice. Your finished creations will be ready to collect after its glaze firing. \nAdults only please. \nPlease note we cannot transfer or refund your bought places unless they can be filled. \nIf you wish to use our Tearoom\, you must book as we cannot guarantee availability.
