DESCRIPTION:In this fun and creative pottery workshop children will handbuild a friendly clay snail and a beautiful textured butterfly. Using simple techniques\, they’ll shape and decorate their pieces with colourful slips to make them truly unique. Once completed\, the pottery will be left to dry\, fired in the kiln\, glazed and ready to collect at a later date. A lovely hands on session full of imagination and creativity.  \nThis workshop is suitable for children aged 5+ (Age 5 and 6 year olds must have an accompanying adult for the workshop duration.) \nParents can stay to help or book a table in the Tearoom. Please do not leave the premises during the workshop. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Vikki. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:This kid’s clay workshop is suitable for age 7+.  They will be guided on how to create their own ceramic tic tac toe board game (also known as noughts and crosses).  They can design it around their own theme\, be it flowers and butterflies or cartoon characters – the possibilities are endless.  They will add colour on the day and the finished piece can be collected at a later date after drying and firing in the kiln. \nParents and guardians can stay for the workshop but we are limited on space so only one grown up per child.  If you stay\, you must be willing to support and assist your child.  If you wish to use our Tearoom you may need to book as we cannot guarantee availability. SUMMARY:Adult & Kid’s Potters Wheel Taster Fri 21st August 10.30am
DESCRIPTION:This session is aimed at couples of one adult and one child.  Children must be aged 7+.  During the 90 min class\, each couple will share a potters wheel\, with the child going first to make a pot and then swapping places. \nOur Pottery Teacher Vikki will guide the children and adults through the process of preparing\, centring and manipulating the clay to create a pot each.  Adults will need to help the children if necessary\, although Vikki will obviously be on hand to assist. \nParticipants can choose a glaze colour and staff will glaze the finished pots for you.  Finished pieces can be collected 2 weeks later. \nIf you have any questions regarding this workshop please email Vikki directly on vikki@edentearoom.com before you book. \nPlease note one booking for £50 covers a potters wheel for an adult AND a child.

DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Tues 25th August 6pm
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. DESCRIPTION:In this fun 1.5hr children’s workshop\, participants will create their very own friendly\, colourful pinch pot monster.  Once shaped and refined their creation will be left to dry before being fired.  Our Pottery Teacher Christine will give full support and guidance.  Parents are welcome to stay and help but please email us to let us know so we can ensure there is enough room for everybody. \nBefore leaving the workshop\, children can choose a glaze colour for their creation and we will glaze it for you.  Your finished monster will be available to collect a week or so later and we will contact you beforehand. \nThis workshop is for children aged 7+ only.  Parents can stay to help or book a table in the Tearoom. DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington from Evendawn Arts in this ‘Exploring Watercolour’ Workshop. \nThis is a perfect taster workshop for anyone who’s always wanted to try watercolour painting but have been too nervous to! It’s also great for those with a small amount of experience to practice looser painting styles and build confidence. \nThe aim of this ‘Exploring Watercolours’ class is to have FUN\, and to get past the anxiety many people experience when approaching watercolour painting! There is absolutely NO DRAWING involved\, so you can simply enjoy playing with the paints\, without stressing over the outcome.  \nYou’ll explore how to use a basic set of colours and see the way they blend and harmonise on paper\, along with using different types of brushes and some more unusual tools to create fascinating effects. \nThere will be a selection of simple and enjoyable exercises\, which will offer you a great basis in watercolor painting. DESCRIPTION:Join Anita from wick-ed Candle Refills for this 2 hour workshop where she will show you the simplest and quickest way to produce luxury natural soy wax scented candles and provide everything you need to do so. Within the workshop we will teach you how to make/refill your own candles and have the confidence to create your own large 250ml scented soy wax candle to take home and enjoy. (RRP approx. £35) We have a small but exceptional collection of fragrances for you to choose from\, all paraben free quality fragrance oils\, speciality blended for us by a UK supplier. \n  \nPlease note that if you wish to use Eden’s first floor Tearoom before of after the workshop\, even for drinks and cake\, you must book a table via the website as availability cannot be guaranteed. \n  \nWe work hard to price our workshops fairly and offer good value for money.
