SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Sat 24th October 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:Open Studio Access – Make Time for Pottery \nFancy some uninterrupted time in the pottery studio to work on your own projects? Our Open Studio Access sessions give you the freedom to create at your own pace\, using our workshop facilities and equipment. \nWhether you love hand-building\, throwing on the potter’s wheel or experimenting with something completely new\, come along and make something that’s uniquely yours. \nYou can book 2\,4 or 6 hours of studio time.  Our Pottery Teachers will be around to offer advice and guidance\, but please note this is not a taught session or one-to-one tuition. \nWhen: Every Tuesday from 9.30-3.30 \nChoose a length of session to suit you and if its less than 6 hours\, drop us an email at workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you’ll be arriving and if you’re handbuilding or will need a potters wheel. \nYou’ll need to purchase your clay from us\, so we know what is going into our kiln. Any clay used that is not purchased from us will be charged Kilnshare prices for firing and the relevant forms need to be completed so we have as much information about the clay as possible.  This helps to avoid damage to our kiln shelves and kiln.  Full 12.5kg bags of Stoneware and Earthenware cost £40\, half bags £20 and quarter bags £12. Within the workshop we will teach you how to make/refill your own candles and have the confidence to create your own large 250ml scented soy wax candle to take home and enjoy. (RRP approx. £35) We have a small but exceptional collection of fragrances for you to choose from\, all paraben free quality fragrance oils\, speciality blended for us by a UK supplier. \n  \nPlease note that if you wish to use Eden’s first floor Tearoom before of after the workshop\, even for drinks and cake\, you must book a table via the website as availability cannot be guaranteed. \n  \nWe work hard to price our workshop fairly and offer good value for money. We therefore have a clear non-refundable & no transfer policy to ensure that we cover our costs and protect the ongoing viability of the workshop. We do appreciate that sometimes-unforeseen circumstances may mean that you can’t attend a workshop and we are happy for you to send along a friend to take your place\, we will need their name and contact details prior to the workshop
