DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. SUMMARY:Beginners Potters Wheel Evening Course Tues 19th May - 9th June 6-8pm
DESCRIPTION:This 4 x session evening course is an introduction to making pots on the potters wheel. You will learn how to prep\, centre and manipulate the clay to create your own forms. Our Pottery Teacher will focus on teaching you how to pull cylinders to a workable height.  You will also be shown basic turning techniques to finish your pots off before firing. \nThe course will run on four consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on 19th May until 9th June\, from 6pm until 8pm.  If you cannot attend a session due to prior commitments or illness\, unfortunately we are unable to provide additional sessions to catch up. Our building shuts at 5pm so access will only be available from 5.45pm and our Tearoom will be closed. Please drive in via our middle gates. \nThis course is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who needs a complete refresher on techniques. Adults only. DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2\, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. \nIf you book for 2 or 4 hours please email workshops@edentearoom.com to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. \nFrom February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay\, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Thur 28th May 1:30pm
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Join Helen Worthington in this ‘Acrylic Inks Dragonfly Painting’ workshop. \nThis is the perfect opportunity to have a go with the gorgeous colours of Acrylic Inks\, to create your own beautiful painting of a shimmering Dragonfly\, on a background of loose colours and delightful Bullrushes. \nIn this class\, Helen will also teach you how to easily transfer a drawn design onto a painting background ready for painting. This is a useful technique which you’ll be able to use for your own projects in the future.  \nAcrylic Inks are very vibrant\, and once dry\, completely permanent! Therefore\, please ensure you wear suitable clothing which won’t matter if the ink splashes/spills onto it.  \nPlease don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your project home in – a small lidded tray or box will be fine. \nAll levels of experience welcome (age 14 upwards). DESCRIPTION:Join us to create your own set of ceramic poppyheads.  You will be guided step-by-step on the making process to create the basic structure\, then you will have the opportunity to be creative and add details and texture to create your own version.  There will be lots of inspiration and guidance on hand\, plus full use of cutters and moulds. \nOnce dried and kiln fired after about 2 weeks\, you will be invited back at your convenience to add colour with our glazes.  Alternatively you can leave instructions of your colour choices with our teachers who can glaze them for you.  After another kiln firing your finished pieces will be available for collection. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners. Adults only. \nPlease note we cannot refund or transfer any booked places until they are refilled. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. DESCRIPTION:At last this ever popular workshop returns for the Summer.  Come and create your own Gonk character from clay.  You will be guided through the process of making each part and the construction of the basic form\, before you can let your imagination go wild with the addition of detail and props to create your own character. \nYou will get to add colour during this class too to avoid having to make a return visit to glaze.  Once your Gonk if fully dried out after a week or so\, we will fire it in the kiln to over 1000oC and let you know when its ready to collect. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners\, including adults and children over 7years old. \nPlease note\, we cannot refund or transfer your place unless your original places are filled. \nIf you wish to use our Tearoom you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability.

Got a degree in art or never held a brush before come and paint with Karen. \nIn this session you will be guided step-by-step to create a miniature watercolour landscape painting incorporating a range of techniques. (See photo) All materials provided for this class. \nThis session is very informal and relaxed.
