SUMMARY:Potters Wheel Taster Mon 25th May 11am
DESCRIPTION:This 90-minute potters wheel taster will introduce you to the basic principles of making a small pot.  You will be shown how to prepare the clay\, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form.  This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching.  They will give step-by-step instructions\, perform demonstrations and support you in the process.  You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots. \nOnce the class is finished\, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC.  After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC.  Once cooled and wrapped\, we will contact you for collection.  The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks. \nFor your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn\, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for. \nYour workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Vikki. \nPlease note these Potters Wheel Tasters are for aged 16+ only.  We run classes specifically for children during the school holidays. \nWorkshop vouchers are available for this workshop. Please email workshops@edentearoom.com for details. \nWe work hard to price our workshops competitively and provide a quality service.  Therefore\, our policy is that no workshop places can be refunded or transferred unless the place can be filled. We understand things can happen and prevent you from attending so we are happy for you to send someone in your place if necessary. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for children aged 7+ to experience the potters wheel.  You will be guided and helped by our Pottery Teacher Vikki on how to prepare the clay\, fix it to the wheel and how to form a basic pot using just your hands and fingers. \nDue to the strength needed to manipulate the clay and operate the foot peddle this class is not suitable for under 7’s.  Please don’t book a younger child onto this class as they will not be able to participate on the day. \nIf your child has additional needs and will require extra support you will need to be prepared to get involved.  Please email Vikki directly to advise her – vikki@edentearoom.com \nParents and guardians are welcome to stay in the room to watch the class or they may to visit our Tearoom\, although we cannot guarantee availability without booking first. Please remain on the premises during the kid’s class. \nWe work hard to keep our workshops affordable and value for money\, therefore we cannot transfer or refund any bookings unless your original place can be filled.
