This 90-minute taster class for the potters wheel will introduce you to the basic principles of make a small pot. You will be shown how to prepare the clay, centre the clay onto the potters wheel and how to manipulate the clay to create a form. This class is taught by our professional Pottery Teachers who have years of experience and teaching. They will give step-by-step instructions, perform demonstrations and support you in the process. You will get two 400g balls of clay to create two pots.
Once the class is finished, the work needs 5-7 days to dry out before going into the kiln for its first firing to 1000oC. After that we will glaze your pieces in colours you have chosen during the class and your work is then re-fired to over 1200oC. Once cooled and wrapped, we will contact you for collection. The whole process takes approximately 2 weeks.
For your safety we advise that no open toed shoes are worn, long hair is tied back and nails are short if possible. We will provide aprons but please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting clay on. Please pass this information onto everyone you are booking places for.
Your workshop will be run by our Pottery Teacher Christine.
