Join Helen Worthington of Evendawn Arts in the Beginners Acrylic workshop where Helen will show you how to work with acrylic paints, using a selection of different brushes and palette knives. If you have already done some acrylic painting, then you might find a different approach here, but if you are completely new to the medium, we’ll work together to build your knowledge and confidence, and create some lovely artwork.
This will be a fun workshop to allow you to try the medium of acrylic paint – perfect if you’ve never used it before! I will explain everything clearly as we go along.
There will be 2 different projects within the workshop. Firstly, an ‘abstract-style flower bouquet’ on a small piece of suitable card, to introduce you to the paints, brushes and knives, and how they act on a surface. This will be a loose and imaginative exercise, with no drawing involved!
The second exercise will be a small step-by-step ‘beach-scape’ picture, using acrylic paints, brushes and palette knives, to create a simple impressionistic scene. This will enable you to produce a reasonable sized painting which you may want to frame, and again there is no drawing required for this.
Please don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your projects home in – a small lidded tray or box will be fine.
Important Note: Acrylic paints and inks will stain clothing and not wash out, so please ensure you wear clothing that is suitable for this type of work. (Aprons will be provided on the day). Also, although I’ve never experienced any problems with acrylic paints, if you have any allergies you might wish to bring some protective gloves in case of contact.
Please note that if you wish to use our tearoom before the class you must book a table via our website as we cannot guarantee availability.
We work hard to price our workshops fairly and offer good value for money. We therefore have a clear non-refundable & no transfer policy to ensure that we cover our costs and protect the ongoing viability of the workshop. we do appreciate that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may mean that you cannot attend a workshop and we are happy for you to send along a friend to take your place, we will need their name and contact details prior to the workshop.
