Andrew Sharrock

Southport based Andrew completed a photography degree in 2019 and his honours project challenged him to take photography in a new direction, he was influenced to take on a different perspective. This introduced him to the world of ‘Intentional Camera Movement’. One of his influences is ‘Andrew S Gray’ who is based in the North East of England. Andrew’s favourite subjects are nature and his favourite time of the day to be creating images is at dusk for sunset. Ainsdale Pinewoods and the beautiful Sefton coastline and just up north the Lake District, a lot of his work is created in these environments. He uses a variety of techniques, always shooting free hand, to reduce time and provide the shutter delay he uses a Cokin 5 stopper filter. Andrew is certainly not a fair weather person so any conditions are great to get out in, “I particularly enjoy moody skies especially when I am out on Sefton’s Coastline, sometimes the rougher the conditions the better. I will use objects in my image making, this can dictate what technique to use, I have included Southport Pier, and numerous shipwrecks from our coastline that not only give historical interest but visual appeal and fascination. I particularly love the horizon in the middle of my images; a great influence here with me is Japanese Photographer ‘Hiroshi Sugimoto’ who is renowned for travelling to different countries to photograph seascapes”
