Chris Halliwell

Chris Halliwell’s art is eclectic and diverse. He works in a range of medium and styles from large, minimal abstract paintings to photo realism. He uses a wide variety of materials from oil paint to sand and soil, even crumbling masonry and found objects. He has exhibited his work in the UK, USA, Europe and even as far as New Zealand and Australia. He has won a number of awards, including the People’s Choice Award Winner at the Old Courts, Wigan and first runner up at Liverpool Art Fair. He has completed commissions in oil paints, pastels, watercolours, chalk, charcoal, and pencil. His portfolio includes illustration, landscapes, historical scenes, portraits, photography, sculpture and
photoshop work.
For this series of paintings (Sunsets and Nocturnes), Chris has found inspiration from his travels in the Uk, Europe and around the world and in the works of Atkinson Grimshaw, Whistler, Turner and even Wigan’s own Theodore Major. From the romance of Turner’s sunsets and the misty nocturnes of Whistler to the atmospheric, moonlit landscapes of Atkinson Grimshaw and the gritty Northern realism of Theodore Major, his use of muted colours and tonal harmonies, together with controlled spontaneity, expressive gestural paint application and softened, textural indistinct forms merge to create these ethereal, atmospheric landscapes

Ruth Clayton

After gaining her degree, Ruth decided to complete a teaching qualification at Manchester University. Since then, she has spent time as an art teacher working in high schools and tertiary Colleges.
Ruth now shares an art studio with her partner Stuart Gray at Farfield Mill in Sedbergh, Cumbria, where she work,s teaches, and sells her paintings. Ruth’s passion for the sea can be clearly seen in her work. Not a calm sea, however, but the energy of the sea with its movement and reaction to light. Showing how the ocean reflects the surrounding force of nature with all its colours and intricate
patterns.

Andrea Mosey

Yorkshire based artist Andrea Mosey works in oils, creating atmospheric landscapes inspired by the vast skies and ever-changing light of the countryside around her. After a career in Air Traffic Control with the RAF and later in corporate Learning and Development, Andrea discovered her true passion for painting and became a full-time artist in 2021. Using a combination of first hand reference and imagination,
Andrea constructs evocative
landscapes that explore themes of place, mood and memory.
Through her use of colour, light and shade, she aims to tell stories that capture moments of stillness and invite the viewer to pause, reflect and form a personal connection with each piece. Andrea first exhibited at Eden early in her artistic career and has continued to exhibit with us regularly ever since. We are delighted to welcome her back with this latest collection.

Jane Robinson

Jane Robinson is a self-taught contemporary artist whose work is inspired by the beauty and tranquillity of nature and the
surrounding landscape. Using soft, harmonious colours and expressive textures, she creates paintings that evoke a sense of calm, light and connection with the viewer. Her artistic style is influenced by the changing seasons, natural landscapes and the subtle moods found within the environment. Jane continues to develop her artistic practice while sharing her original work through exhibitions and art events.

Michael Treanor

Michael Treanor is a self-taught watercolour artist whose work is driven by a passion for capturing mood, atmosphere & the ever-changing qualities of light. Fascinated by the expressive potential of watercolour, he continually explores the medium’s unique ability to convey transparency, movement & fluidity. Through dedicated experimentation & a lifelong appreciation of the natural landscape, Michael has developed a distinctive style that interprets land & seascapes with both subtlety & dramatic impact. Valuing the freshness & spontaneity that define exceptional watercolour painting, he endeavours to reflect these qualities in every work.
